Kathy (Kate) Pulford is the founding Director of KP Consult & Principal Mediator.
Kathy has a background in Social Work and Management. As an accredited and experienced Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner specialising in Family Mediation, Kathy assists families affected by separation or divorce, cooperatively work out appropriate arrangements for their children and/or property settlement. Mediation offers parties more control over the outcome, compared to going to Court where a another person (magistrate or judge) can impose decisions on the parties.
Family Dispute Resolution can completely replace the need to go to court in most cases. If you wish, you can register an agreement reached in Family Dispute Resolution with the court, by applying for a Consent Order, which then makes the agreement enforceable.
Where mediation is not successful or appropriate however, then as a registered FDR practitioner with the Attorney General's Department, Kathy is authorised to issue Section 60I FDR Exemption Certificates under the Family Law Act 1975 to enable parties to proceed with an application in the Family Court.
Kathy's expertise in children's matters is also demonstrated as a private practitioner member of the Dispute Resolution Chairperson (Children's Matters) List for Legal Aid Western Australia.
Kathy is also a Nationally Accredited Mediator (NMAS) as approved by the Mediators Standards Board with a business management background who has experience in workplace dispute resolution.
Kathy also collaborates and works in cooperation with external service providers including psychologists, counsellors, government agencies and the legal profession.
